Fili 周 Gibbons ( we/they/them ) are an artist, musician and recording engineer of mixed Chinese and Canadian ancestry currently based in Tiohtià:ke / Montreal. Their work draws on voice and cello performance, audio production, multimedia, internal body arts, and ancestral knowledge systems, combining these to create sensorial tapestries of memory and embodiment.
As a performance-maker, they have been invited to create original performances for PHI Centre, Sight+Sound, OBORO, ISO Mexico City, International Institute for Critical Studies of Improvisation. As a technical consultant and multimedia creator, they frequently collaborate with other artists in audio production (Yaya Diallo, Géraldine Eguiluz, Michael Kim-Sheng, Rajni Shah), cello recording (Devon Bate, Jeremy Dutcher), and sound design for 3D / VR experiences (World Creation Studio, Marie LeBlanc Flanagan).
Founding Studio Apothicaire in 2018, they continue to explore a human-centred sound and video production practice through recordings, artist accompaniment, and community workshops.
